Koli Community

We are an ethnic group found throughout India, but concentrated in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. We are one of the original inhabitants of Greater Mumbai around the cities of Surat, Navsari and Valsad. Most of us are farmers or fishermen in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. Koli communities speak a variant dialect of Marathi and worship the goddess Ekveera.
